A long trip to stay with friends in Queesntown (South Island), the flight had a 1 hour stop off in Singapore, then a 5 hour wait in Sidney before finally flying to New Zealand.
As August is winter in New Zealand we hoped to do some skiing as well as sightseeing, seeing some of the places where Lord of the Rings was filmed. Unfortunately Hobbiton is in North Island and We couldn't get tickets for the couple of days at the end of our trip.
